The Fog Went into Schuster's Head / Tågen krøb ind i Schusters hoved

The Fog Went into Schuster's Head

it could be anything
but it was the fog
creeping into Schuster (unknown
and unapproachable)'s head
to get charged
by his energetic brain

it went in when he put down his pipe
stood up in all his might
and opened his ears

it's impossible to say
what went on in there
or how that magnificent jelly-fish
handled the fog
but it wasn't the same
when it re-entered
the world of birds and trees
whole milk and blue sneakers
right thumbs and bunions
missed appointments and lonely evenings
now very lively and tender

it went about purring
like a cat while it whispered
and sang (alternately) Schuster
(still unknown and fairly unapproachable)'s name

later in the day
as the sun sank
into the almighty mouth
of the church on the hill
it cuddled up on a man-made lake
which some say
really is a door
in a book about
the advanced geometry
of Sundays

but who knows?
fog is good
at hiding things

Tågen krøb ind i Schusters hoved

det ku' ha' været hvad som helst
men det var tågen
der krøb ind i Schuster (ukendt
og utilnærmelig)'s hoved
for at blive opladet

mens solen sank
ned i den almægtige mund
på kirken på højen
rullede den sig sammen
på en menneskeskabt sø
som nogle siger
i virkeligheden er en dør
i en bog om
søndagens avancerede geometri

men hvem véd?
tåge er god
til at skjule tingene
